One of the sounds that is always present in the streets of Barcelona, on top of all the other big city sounds, is the one of rattling wheels and skateboard decks. Whether you are walking through Raval, or enjoying your morning coffee in La Barceloneta, the skateboarders won't go unnoticed. Barcelona is seen as one of the best cities in the world for skaters and here is why.

Barcelona offers many various locations for (roller)skaters or longboarders to practise their tricks. From actual skate parks to squares, and from bars with an indoor skate bowl to hostels with a skate ramp. If you want to find out more details about these locations, you can read all about it on this blog. The skate spot that is probably most famous in the city is: MACBA. Even if you are not a skater, and just visiting Barcelona, the place is a must-see. This meeting point is where expats and locals gather. Let yourself immerse in their world and positive vibes as you pass by on your walk through Raval.

Besides MACBA, other places such as plaça Universitat, Paral·lel, Barcelona Sants station, and Fòrum make great locations for skaters. The weather in the city is amazing nearly all year round and has only a few rainy days a year. That is one of the main reasons why people get out of the house and skate all day long.
Another place where you will be able to spot some professionals is behind the W hotel. With the palm trees and the sea view in the background - you will be impressed by the location and excited to make great photos.

Fire, fury, and motion, those are the words that describe Mar Bella skate park. At Mar Bella, you will find a mixture of skateboarders, BMX riders and inline skaters, young and old! The location reminds a lot of people of Venice beach and when you visit it, you will know why. The place is surrounded by palm trees, the ocean and plenty of grass to chill. Locals like the place a lot because it's located near Poble Nou metro station, which is further away from La Barceloneta and all its tourists.

Usually the skate scene mostly consists of men, but here in Barcelona, and especially at Fòrum skate park, girls will dominate the ramps and drift around.
